Spectrum 2 is the pre-professional company, drawn from only the most serious dance students, to Jazz Spectrum Dance Company. Under the Artistic Direction of Janell Burgess, it is the mission of Spectrum 2 to bring the traditions of American jazz dance to younger audiences through community and educational outreach while providing the dancers a platform to experience the professional dance world.

 
 

Performance Opportunities

 
 

Spectrum 2 offers performance opportunities alongside Jazz Spectrum Dance Company in “Continuing the Legacy” every November and “The Full Spectrum” early summer. Other performance opportunities may include but are not limited to: short film experiences, lecture demonstrations, in-house performances, educational outreach, teaching, and travel opportunities.

 
 

Contracts

 
 

Dancers offered Spectrum 2 contracts will be required to attend at minimum 1 jazz class per week with Artistic Director, Janell Burgess and attend weekly Friday night rehearsals 7:30-9:30pm. Additional rehearsals may be added at the discretion of the Director. Contracts are from late August - June.

 
 

Requirements

 
 

  • Mature teens - young adults only

  • Must have strong ballet technique

  • Desire to expand contemporary, modern, jazz technique and training

  • Dedication & a professional, positive attitude!
